Description:

This presentation provides an overview of the Institutional Research and Data Governance (IRDG) data warehouse and how it supports analytical projects across the organization. It will outline the end-to-end approach used by our team to work with clients, design data solutions, engineer ETL processes and deliver reliable and accessible data for analytics and reporting.

The session will begin by explaining how the IRDG team collaborates with stakeholders and clients to understand data requirements, define data models and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. We describe the architecture of the data warehouses and the processes used to ingest, transform and store data from multiple sources. This includes an overview of the ETL and data engineering practices used to ensure data quality, consistency and reliability.

We highlight how data is organized and stored to support both operational reporting and advanced analytics. We will also demonstrate how users are provided with secure and efficient access to data.

A key component of the presentation will focus on operational management of the data. We will review how the team monitors performance, tracks costs and ensures that the platform operates efficiently and reliably. Tools and practices used to optimize performance and maintain service will be discussed.

Finally, the presentation will highlight current challenges and areas for improvement within the data warehouse environment. We will identify opportunities to enhance scalability, governance and access management.
